Thanks to all of your generosity we were able to exceed our goal for the American Cancer Society through Relay for Life, making us the 5th highest corporate fundraiser this year. This contribution will help so many people. It could provide 630 free rides to appointments or 315 free nights of lodging for cancer patients who need to travel for treatments. It could also help to fund a research grant to help find a new cancer treatment. Every dollar counts and really does make a difference. Thank you to those who were able to come out and show your support and for all the donations made to the raffle baskets, jean days, luncheons, bake sales, coffee carts and so much more.
Relay for Life started right here in Tacoma with one man, Dr. Gordy Klatt, doing what he could to help in the fight against cancer. 2019 marked the 35th anniversary of his first walk and the event is now being held in more than 30 countries. The Tacoma event alone raised a total of $457,416 in 2019. There is power in community and this shows what we can accomplish when we all work together toward a common goal.
